The goals of this part of the Risk Management process are:

  • To assess the effectiveness of the overall risk management program;
  • To assess the effectiveness of the selected strategy or strategies being applied to address specific areas of risk in the organization (e.g. Technological Studies, Field Trips, reducing slip and fall injuries, Playground injuries, etc.)
  • To identify the emergence of new risk factors or changes to any environmental factors which increase (or decrease) the risk profile either on an overall basis, or with respect to specific activities.  For example, the purchase of new equipment in a Tech Shop can bring new risks to be managed – new chemicals or hazards that were not present before.

The most common forms of monitoring in a school setting would be:

  • Daily Log books or activity journals;
  • Work Orders or Repair requests;
  • Check lists (Playground, Health & Safety, Field Trips, etc.)
  • Attendance Records, Teaching Plans, Safety Training Lessons
  • Incident Reports
